I STILL WANT TO BE WONDER WOMAN

Psalm 139:14 New International Version (NIV) 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

I always use my birthday as a checking point. I assess where I am and where I’m going. Today is my day. It is a blessing to be here.

As a little girl I would run around the house with a sheet tied around my neck. I thought if I wished hard enough I would fly. Well, maybe not fly, but at least have all of Wonder Woman’s super powers and possibly the invisible plane. Only thing I didn’t like about her life was the fact she always had to save Steve. You know I would have quit him based on that alone. Lol

I look at my friend Vee (yeah, I know that’s my nickname) and I’m amazed. She is an example of the quality women I surround myself with. She’s happily married. Has a great career and is raising her beautiful children. She somehow managed to go back to school to finish her graduate degree. This is how I see her:

I now realize I’ve always had the perfect example, my Mother! She went to Northwestern University’s graduate school, was raising me, directed an award winning choir, and still found time to do fun things with me. How she did it all I don’t know, but I’m grateful; more than that she showed me by example how to have a relationship with the Lord. It is the very thing that keeps me going. “HE is more than the world against you.” That gives me my super powers.

Look at the women around you, your Mothers, your wives, your girlfriends, your sisters, even your friends. They’re the ones raising your children, keeping your house, supporting your dreams, and even going to school. They do it all without ever letting you see them sweat. I am Wonder Woman. But so are my friends and family. After all, they are the real superheroes. No cape or special costume is needed.
