YOU’RE IN TRANSITION: You’re Not The Same
This has been a strange time for a lot of us. Things we use to do; places we use to go; even the friends we use to hang with; it just ain’t happening! Guess what? It’s okay. When I was younger I was painfully shy and people often mistook that as being vain, or aloof. There were issues I was dealing with that only me and GOD knew. Some things I’ve finally come clean on; others have yet to be revealed. Maybe I’ll do so when the time is right.
People are so quick to judge you if anything you say or do is “out of character.” “This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” ~2 Corinthians 5:17 another interpretation says, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.” Isn’t funny how people don’t want you to forget or escape your past? Just because you’re stuck there doesn’t mean I want to be stuck too. I know how much we love and treasure our friends, but if they’re not ready to mature and move on then you have no choice. You’re not the same person. The petty and dumb stuff just doesn’t concern you anymore. “When I was a child, I spoke like a child, thought like a child, and reasoned like a child. When I became an adult, I no longer used childish ways.”~ 1 Corinthians 13:11.
Here’s a thought; grow up! So many of us get excited about what GOD is doing in our lives and want to share it with friends and family. This may not be their time. That’s okay. Doesn’t mean it’s not yours. Ever notice when you get in an argument with someone that’s known you for a long time they bring up something you did years ago that they’re upset about? Could have happened 20 years ago, but now they choose to tell you. Who cares? You shouldn’t. If GOD doesn’t hold you to your past then why should they? “No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.” ~ Philippians 3:13
Okay enough scripture. I’m sure you get my point. Right now GOD is calling us to set ourselves apart from the world. Not the easiest thing to do. For a lot of us it means not only letting go of old habits and ways, but forgiving our past. Even if others haven’t forgiven you; GOD has. As you walk in this new path you may be called to do some unusual things. I believe GOD has given us all a ministry. We aren’t all meant to be behind a pulpit. People who have true calling aren’t always going to be found in the church. I know some of my sisters and brothers are going to disagree with me, but if you’re not reaching outside of your church then maybe you’re not following your calling. I use to belong to a church and on the door it said, “FOR THOSE WHO HURT.” If I was honest; I’d say it was those outside of the church that needed a healing most. So many of us think that if we belong to a certain church; have a certain pastor, and attend every Sunday; we’re good. Wrong! Remember I’m the one that said, CHURCH CAN’T SAVE YOU. Only GOD can save you. Stop letting people dictate what you do. It’s not a good look. If you do what GOD tells you to do will it make you popular? No, but people don’t have a Heaven or a hell to put you in. They can’t bless you nor can they curse you.
Not everyone is going to understand the change. Places you used to go; things you used to do….it just ain’t happening. That’s okay. If nobody but GOD believes you’ve changed; that’s okay. Don’t go back to who you used to be. GOD has called you out from among them. HE’s looking for radicals, life-changers, and the exception. HE’s looking for YOU!
