HAPPY BIRTHDAY TERRY!! (YES, I’M CELEBRATING MY EX)

Today is my ex-husband’s birthday. I can say unequivocally that he is one of my FAVORITE people ever! I know it might seem strange to hear a woman praise the virtues of her ex-husband, but I sincerely feel this way. He is one of kindest, funniest, talented people you will ever meet. He has been a phenomenal Father and friend. Even after the divorce I have always been able to count on Terry to support and back-up me up when it came to our daughter. We have parted ways, but we agreed that Courtney Nicole would always be first priority over boyfriends, girlfriends, husbands, wives, whoever. And that has stayed true.

Was this easy? No, it has not always been easy. But it was definitely worth every tear, every sacrifice. Courtney has been a joy, but occasional we’ve had our bumps. Ironically, it wasn’t really an issue until it was time for her to go off to school. We experienced a few growing pains on both parts. lol Even when Courtney ran to Daddy to tell on Mommy; Daddy would always reach out and say, “What’s going on Veela Faye?” As crazy as he is about his daughter he knew there had to be a reason why Mommy felt the way she did. Although we don’t live in the same state Courtney knew we were united in our parenting. Distance never changed that.

The biggest compliment I’ve ever gotten from Terry was at Courtney’s high school graduation party. He and his immediate family came to Chicago to celebrate and support Courtney. They lavished every gift and necessity Courtney would need for college (computer, printer, money, etc.). Even in the midst of celebrating Courtney; Terry made a presentation to me and thanked me for doing a wonderful job in raising our daughter. It brought tears to my eyes. She is the best of us. Already being overwhelmed; Terry presented me with some beautiful diamond earrings. No one can tell me that I don’t have an ex-husband who is the epitome of class. Me being silly hugged and thanked Terry saying, “You are the BEST ex-husband ever!” lol

Soon the family well be together to watch Courtney cross the stage to become Dr. Ammons with her degree in pharmacy. As a family we have pulled together to get Courtney through school. I have to thank Uncle D.A. and Granny for being her support. Thank you for never giving our daughter limits. She is one the funniest and most entertaining people you’d ever want to meet. She is a joy to be around just like her Daddy. She has an unwavering faith that comes from your Mother and mine. Thank you for being the greatest example of a good man to her. Thank you for not letting divorce define who we are and who we are to each other. Happy birthday Terry! Thank you for being my friend. More than that; thank you for being my family.

Signed,
Veela Faye (yes Terry calls me that) lol
